Coach Nate not only set a new PR for hours driven in a weekend (14) but the West Siders who went to NE LCM Championships set PR’s in every event. Some PR’s were massive against not only last year but just 3 months ago!! It was quite an incredible weekend and as a coach I couldn’t be prouder of the results. When you boil it down, a swim taper is an unnatural thing. It is an anomalous moment wedged in between two highly structured bookends (or not depending on the coach). It is a period of doubt, regret, happiness, anger, elation, anxiety and downright fear. The body tries to figure out what’s happening and the mind just helps to feed the paranoia. Like an alcoholic leaving rehab who meets his old drinking buddy on the street…

West Side’s own Matt Nuffort and Steve Wright both placed in the top 15 overall ending up 4th and 13th respectively at the Cohasset triathlon this weekend. Amazing stuff guys…Nuffort owned the swim!!! Respek!!

Yes…all that which was illegal is now legal. Any hope of putting swimming back on the swimmer instead of the suit may be potentially lost forever. FINA, taking a page directly out of the CSCAA book, has decided to reverse the reverse of their swimsuit decision. NOW, you can wear anything you want…but only until 1/1/10. Because then, FINA will get really mad and count to 10 and set new suit and time recognition standards. In the meantime, enjoy the results from Rome…

Auburn men’s and women’s head swimming and diving coach Richard Quick, who was diagnosed with an inoperable cancerous brain tumor in December 2008, passed away Wednesday at the age of 66. One of the most recognizable names in the swimming and diving community, Quick was a six-time United States Olympic coach who directed 13 teams to NCAA titles, the most ever by a swimming coach.
